Abstract— We show that the calcium fiuorophore Indo-1 can be excited by simultaneous absorption of three-photons at 885 nra, a wavelength readily available from Ti:sapphire lasers. Three-photon excitation was demonstrated by the emission intensity of Indo-1 which depended on the cube of the laser power, and by a higher anisotropy than was observed for two-photon excitation. Excitation of Indo-1 becomes a two-photon process when the wavelength is decreased to 820 nm. Three-photon excitation was accomplished at a low 17μ concentration of Indo-1. Examination of the spatial profile of the excited Indo-1 showed a smaller volume for three- versus two-photon excitation. These results suggest that three-photon excitation may be useful in fluorescence microscopy using the long wavelength output of Tksapphire lasers, and may provide higher spatial resolution than available using two-photon excitation.  相似文献

We report the first observation of polarized emission from a rhenium-phenanthroline complex, Re(CO)3(phen)Cl. Highly luminescent rhenium complexes are known, with quantum yields near 0.5 and lifetimes in excess of 10 s. The detection of polarized emission suggests the use of rhenium complexes as probes of the hydrodynamics of large macromolecular complexes and for use in fluorescence polarization immunoassays with gated detection.  相似文献

Crystal structures of two title compounds and several their relatives known earlier reveal conservative and characteristic features, which may be related to their tuberculostatic activity. The molecules are predominantly planar due to conjugation through five successive bonds in the zwitterionic fragment S–C(sp2)–N–NH+–C(sp2)–NH2 and intramolecular hydrogen bonds, which prevent rotation of the adjacent pyrazine (or pyridine) ring. It has been suggested that in spatial sense such planar molecules resemble acridines intercalating with nucleic acids and that similar process may be responsible for tuberculostatic activity of the title pyrazine-2-carboxamide-N′-carbonothioyl-hydrazones.  相似文献

In this paper we consider problems concerning the effectiveness of iterational calculations on vibrational analysis. Instead of the widespread least-squares method of force field refinement, another method is proposed based on the steepest-descent algorithm for calculation of the functional minimum of many variables. The new method does not require inverting of a large, poorly conditioned matrix or the introduction of experimental damping coefficients for improving the convergency of the calculations. Test calculations performed for several molecules exhibit a significant “elasticity” of the proposed algorithm allowing more precise reproduction of the molecular vibration frequencies than can be found in recently published works.  相似文献

Infrared spectroscopy and matrix isolation technique have been used to study the 1 : 1 complexes formed between 2,4,5-trichlorophenol (TCP), pentachlorophenol (PCP) or 2-chloro-4,6-dinitrophenol (CNP) and trimethylamine (TMA) isolated in solid argon. The results were analyzed in relation to the type of complex formed. Depending on the proton-donor ability of the phenol three different types of hydrogen bonded complexes have been identified in argon matrices. The weakest phenol in the series, TCP (pKa = 6.72), forms a strong molecular hydrogen bonded complex with TMA as indicated by the broad ν(OHN) absorption with a maximum at 2490 cm−1 and a band at 811 cm−1 due to the νs(C3N) mode of the perturbed amine. The strongest phenol, CNP (pKa = 2.01), interacts with TMA in an argon matrix to form ionic complex with the proton transferred to the base molecule. This is evidenced by the presence of the ν(NH+---O) absorption between 3000−1800 cm−1, by the νas(C3N+) and νs(C3N+) absorptions due to the protonated amine and by numerous product bands due to the relatively strongly perturbed modes of the phenol ring. The interaction between TMA and a phenol of intermediate strength, PCP (pKa = 4.74), in solid argon probably leads to the formation of two types of hydrogen bonded complexes: an ionic complex with the proton transferred to the amine molecule and a pseudosymmetric one with the proton more or less equally shared between the phenol and amine molecules. In this case the protonic absorption consists of two broad features situated in the 3000–1600 cm−1 and 950–400 cm−1 regions due to the ν(NH+O) and ν(OHN) modes, respectively.  相似文献

We propose a novel composite organic-inorganic coating in the form of a redox polymer film for protection of stainless steel against general corrosion in strong acid medium (2 M H2SO4). We utilize an anion exchange polymer, protonated poly(4-vinylpyridine), into which hexacyanoferrate anions have been introduced. Owing to the presence of Fe(CN)63–/4– at the interface formed by the film and the steel, a sparingly soluble metal hexacyanoferrate (mostly Prussian blue, PB) is formed as an overcoating on the steels surface, presumably on the passive (metal oxide) layer. The redox polymer film on the steel seems to act as a composite three-dimensional bilayer-type coating in which hexacyanoferrate(III,II) anions (that are capable of effective charge storage) exist in the outer portions of the film, whereas the inner PB layer improves the systems overall adherence and stability. By analogy to a conducting polymer (e.g. polyaniline, polypyrrole), introduction of the redox polymer composite film leads to stabilization of the steel substrates potential within the passive range.Contribution to the 3rd Baltic Conference on Electrochemistry, Gdansk-Sobieszewo, Poland, 23–26 April 2003Dedicated to the memory of Harry B. The differential isosteric enthalpies, -deltaH(ads), and entropies, -deltaS(ads), of adsorption were calculated taking the retention times of the peak maxima and the centres of gravity of peaks into account and compared with the results obtained from the adsorption second virial coefficients. A mathematical link between the -deltaH(ads) and -deltaS(ads) magnitudes and experimental data was derived through the Antoine-type equation which enables the -deltaH(ads) and -deltaS(ads) magnitudes to be found from adsorption second virial coefficients, B2S, calculated on the basis of chromatographically determined adsorption isotherm data. The virial coefficients were calculated employing the values of the Tóth and Unilan equation parameters. There are no significant differences to be found between the isosteric enthalpies obtained, whereas the values of the adsorption entropies were the highest for the centre of peak gravity data.  相似文献

We describe a novel application of frequency-domain fluorometry which allows resolution of the decay times and emission spectra of samples which display multi-exponential decay kinetics. This method does not require any previous knowledge about the decay times or any assumptions about the shape of the emission spectra. We record the wavelength-dependent phase angles and modulations (phase angle and modulation spectra) using a number of light modulation frequencies. The data is analyzed by non-linear least-squares to recover the emission spectra and their associated decay times. Phase and modulation spectra (PM Spec) were used to recover the emission spectra associated with the two decay times of tryptophan at pH = 7 (0.54 and 3.44 ns). The emission spectra of these components are centered at 340 and 355 nm, respectively, with the amplitude of the 0.54 ns component contributing 6% to the total emission. These results are in agreement with previous time-resolved studies by Szabo and Rayner [J. Am. Chem. Soc. 102, 554-563 (1980)]. Control experiments were performed on mixtures of N-acetyl-L-tryptophanamide (NATA) and PPD, which demonstrate our ability to recover the spectra and decay times from two component mixtures. NATA itself displayed a single decay time and only one emission spectrum.  相似文献
